There is a craze running through suburban America affecting young teen girls that could be a big problem on the emotional states of those girls. What’s this horrid craze you ask? Well, it goes by the name Justin Bieber.
The 15-year-old singer is growing more popular everyday. He is armed with the boyish charm (because he is just a boy) and with an Usher cosign. He has a phenomenal singing ability compared to the majority of the world’s population and is definitely going to be around in the music industry for a long time.
However, he can be seen as a problem right now. His music could be taken as a negative influence on young teens. People always like to complain about how “gangsta rap,” or even rap in general, are negative influences on their children due to topics such as sex, drugs, and violence appearing in songs. It’s easy to agree with that point but the notion of love and romance can be just as damaging and negatively influential on young teens.
Love and romance are complicated issues for the oldest and wisest of people. The idea of love is far too complex for a 13-year-old girl to take in. As we’ve seen from the “Twilight rage,” the idea of “love” can really take hold of a teenager’s life. Having young girls idolizing Bieber into something of a sex symbol while he sings about love and true romance can be a problem and mess with their heads. Teens could start to get the wrong perception on ideas like love and how it works.
These girls are impressionable, and if a likable boy their age is singing about how they’re the only one for him, it can allure to obsession. Bieber could be putting the wrong idea in teens’ heads by only singing about relationships. Love, romance, and relationships shouldn’t be a huge ordeal for middle schoolers or the younger high school crowd. Obsessing about love can ruin lives. It can sometimes be a slippery slope into depression and sometimes even suicide.
Let’s take Bieber’s latest single, “Baby.” The song is just like any other Bieber song. It’s full of words like “love,” “baby,” “heart,” and “mine.” He even goes as far to sing: “You can give me all of your love, just this time it wont be enough.” This line is overly dramatic and a very unrealistic scenario.
On top of all this, Ludacris is featured on the track. The same Ludacris whose song topics include sex, drugs, and violence. The same very topics the traditional parent complains about while taking their daughter to a Justin Bieber concert. Parents will approve of Bieber’s music even though he is introducing an “inappropriate rapper” to their daughter’s life.
There’s a reason why the 20 and older crowd isn’t buying into Bieber’s music as much as the teens: They just don’t believe him as a credible source for singing about love. There is just no appeal and almost creepy for someone that old to be listening to him.
This isn’t really Bieber’s fault though. He’s merely just singing whatever words his label puts in front of him. The record label is not only taking advantage of Bieber, but his fanbase as well. They are exploiting the youth of America.
Is it a bit of an exaggeration to compare Bieber to the super R-rated material that comes out of a lot of other songs? Maybe. The point is, the concept of love can be just as dangerous as any other song topic when it comes to young teens whom still have a lot to learn and are ignorant when to comes to more adult-related topics. If you want to blame rap music for the reason why kids at a younger age are more promiscuous, immature, dangerous, and out of control, then Bieber can get some of that blame as well.
Sammie did it first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMo0K0eWb8k
Or Hanson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHozn0YXAeE
Actually, now that I think about it, this guy named Michael Jackson kind of started the whole thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt9TUy0_GiM
Unfortunately, youth sells. But I’m with you, it’s hard to believe that a radio station would actually think that they can play mature artists and throw this kid into the mix. I thought it was a joke the first time I heard him. Next station, please?
I hate that kid.

Yeah but the major difference here is that Bieber’s entire song catalog is about love. at least the people you posted had songs about other topics. P

of course he is giving the teens the wrong idea. young teenage boys do not think about love as much as they think about masturbation. his songs should concentrate on the latter and expose the truth about teenage boys to teenage girls.
