The Urbanian Kicks it with James Wade

wadetallKenny, Rob, and I hit the road to Dayton where we reconnected with former Urbanian Exclusive Artist, James Wade, as he prepared to open for Wiz Khalifa.

Hundreds poured into Tim’s Bar in Dayton, Ohio to see James Wade and Wiz Khalifa take to the tiny stage located inside and do their thing.

The Urbanian arrived with Wade to Tim’s a couple hours before the show was slated to begin. There were already plenty of people there. You could sense the excitement in the night ahead with how several people strutted around the bar and through the conversations they were having.

Wade made his rounds and chatted it up with some of the attendees. He was ultra-friendly to everyone who approached him. He’s one of the easiest emcees to have a regular conversation with.

As the minutes came nearer and nearer to showtime, people began to disperse from the bar and walk towards the stage. The stage was quite miniature and engulfed by the hoards of people. There was a mini-VIP area along the right side and behind the stage.

Everyone was cramped but no one cared. This was a night meant for a wild good time. Not having a lot of personal space was a problem for no one.

Wade finally took to the stage and used the hometown crowd to his advantage. Being a former student of Dayton meant many people there were well familiar with Wade and his work. Wade performed some of his well-known songs such as “Weatherman,” while mixing in some new tracks that will be on his upcoming mixtape with DJ Ill Will. Wade set up the crowd for Khalifa to perfection. He got the place even more hyped and energetic when it seemed like the crowd couldn’t get any wilder.

Wade finished and the Khalifa chants began. Just like that Khalifa seemed to emerge out of nowhere within the extremely-crowded VIP area and hopped onto the stage with his entourage. He wasn’t even on stage for a second before the crowd got even louder and almost made it impossible to even hear him do his set. Khalifa did what was expected of him as a headliner. He performed his hits, old and new. The crowd went crazy for “Say Yeah.” The crowd sang along to every word to “The Thrill.” They even started dancing when “Smoker Face” came on.

Just like he entered, he disappeared. The night was winding down and Khalifa disappeared into the night to never be seen again. Wade continued to hang out for a bit longer before being on his way. As last call drew near the crowd slowly started to leave the bar. They left sweaty, and all hyped out after an amazing show. I’m sure they loved that feeling.
