Oh So Fresh Fridays Vol. 2

1. Jazzy Jeff x Michael Jackson – I’ll Be There FFEJ Remix

DJ Jazzy Jeff has been making hits since before you put on your first pair of L.A. Gears. His latest mix-tape tribute album titled He’s the King I’m the DJ, pays homage to the one and only king of pop. The album is segmented into 49 M.J.hits, mini-tracked and transitioned into straight goodness. The album plays through and is well worth the 0 cents you have to pay for it. Here’s a peek.

2. Ryan Leslie – Zodiac

Amidst my blog perusing, I stumbled across this gem. First time through didn’t hit it with me, second or third time it clicked. Ryan Leslie puts a new electronic whimsical spin on R&B with Zodiac. He hops into falsetto a few times throughout making for a strikingly similar sound to that of Robin Thicke, I know, I know. Hard to say if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, either or, the track’s dope. Have a listen.

3. Mayer Hawthorne – Strange Arrangement

Got’Damn, haven’t been this smitten with an artist for a minute but I will say this, hear Mayer Hawthorne out. Hailing from Ann Arbor, MI, Mayer Hawthorne is one of us, a Michigander. One of which manages to recreates a new rendition of soul that would make the late and great Curtis Mayfield proud. Words do no justice, you’ll like him? Maybe so, maybe no.

4. Mike Posner – Speed of Sound Ft. Big Sean

It may not have big thriving cities, a low unemployment rate, or great weather but one thing Michigan does have is the ability to produce hit artists. This one should come as no surprise being our first artist exclusive. You got it, Mike Posner, this one’s fresh off his fresh-out-the-oven One Foot Out the Door mixtape. Have a listen to Speed of Sound Ft. Big Sean (also from Michigan).

5. The Incomperable Shakesphere – Wonderwall ft. Oasis

Perhaps one of the most over-covered, overplayed Oasis songs of all time, Wonderwall has graced the likes of thousands of Frat Boy dorm rooms per guitar tab sites in frustrated attempts to impress any women in earshot. However, ranting aside the Brooklyn based Incomperable Shakesphere has put a fresh new take on the classic. Enjoy.
